VALVE INLET ASSEMBLY – 14711-ACK-B0099
VALVE INLET ASSEMBLY – 14711-ACK-B0099. All motorcycle poppet valves are shaped like a 4-inch nail with a big flat head. In modern bikes the valve’s head (called the face) sits in the combustion chamber with the shaft (called the stem) poking up out of the cylinder, where it is attached to a spring.
A rocker arm is a valvetrain component that typically transfers the motion of a pushrod in an overhead valve internal combustion engine to the corresponding intake/exhaust valve.
A rocker arm is a small, pivoting lever in an internal combustion engine. It transfers the camshaft’s rotating motion into the up-and-down motion that opens and closes the engine’s valves. This process allows fuel and air to enter the engine and let exhaust gasses exit.
Valves don’t “rock” – they go up and down. On some engine designs there is a “rocker” and “rocker arm” on which it rides. This is on overhead valve engines that use a push rod – the rod is pushed up by the cam shaft and the rocker converts this to pushing down on the valve.
