ROCKER ARM SHAFT – 14451-KST-940
ROCKER ARM SHAFT – 14451-KST-940. The rocker arm is the part responsible for transmitting the movement of the camshaft towards the intake and exhaust valves of the engine, a process that occurs through the direct contact of these parts with the tappets and according to the movement of the shaft.
A rocker arm is a valvetrain component that typically transfers the motion of a pushrod in an overhead valve internal combustion engine to the corresponding intake/exhaust valve.
A rocker arm is a small, pivoting lever in an internal combustion engine. It transfers the camshaft’s rotating motion into the up-and-down motion that opens and closes the engine’s valves. This process allows fuel and air to enter the engine and let exhaust gasses exit.
Valves don’t “rock” – they go up and down. On some engine designs there is a “rocker” and “rocker arm” on which it rides. This is on overhead valve engines that use a push rod – the rod is pushed up by the cam shaft and the rocker converts this to pushing down on the valve.
